Dallas Teen Therapy
The teen years can leave your whole family feeling disconnected, overwhelmed, or unsure of what to do next. Your teen may be shutting down, struggling with big emotions, or pulling away. Through adolescent counseling in Dallas, Rooted Rhythm helps teens feel safer, more understood, and more connected, while supporting parents along the way.
Meet your Dallas teen therapists
Briyona Benjamin
Hi, I’m Briyona, and I specialize in adolescent counseling for highly sensitive teens navigating anxiety, emotional overwhelm, family conflict, and behavioral challenges.
Families often choose me because I bring more than seven years of experience across intensive outpatient care, family systems, and behavior intervention, so I’m equipped to support teens whose needs may feel too complex for talk therapy alone.
As both a therapist and Registered Yoga Teacher, I integrate mindfulness and somatic practices that help teens feel safer in their bodies, regulate intense emotions, and build practical skills they can use beyond the therapy room.
Credentials: Licensed Master Social Worker # 106376; Registered Yoga Teacher (RYT 200)
Specialty Areas: Highly sensitive teens, anxiety, emotional regulation, family dynamics, behavior intervention, mindfulness and somatic practices
Sara Galaso
Hi, I’m Sara, and I specialize in teen counseling for adolescents navigating grief, divorce, identity changes, faith deconstruction, and other major transitions that can leave a family feeling unsteady.
Families often choose me because I combine specialized grief and family-systems experience with years of supporting migrant and refugee families, allowing me to offer culturally responsive therapy in both English and Spanish.
As a mother of three teenage daughters, I also understand adolescence from both sides and help teens feel deeply understood while strengthening their connection with the parents and caregivers who love them.
Credentials: Licensed Master Social Worker #111423
Specialty Areas: Grief and loss, major life transitions, divorce, identity development, culturally responsive care
What sets our practice apart from other Dallas adolescent & teen therapy providers
We understand sensitive, deeply feeling teens. At Rooted Rhythm, sensitivity is not something to “fix.” We help teens understand their emotions, recognize their strengths, and feel more confident being themselves.
Parents are meaningfully included. Teen therapy works best when the whole family feels supported. We offer parent guidance alongside your teen’s sessions so progress can continue at home.
We look beneath the behavior. Our therapists use attachment-based and nervous system-informed care to understand what your teen’s reactions may be communicating, not just how to stop them.
Families receive support between sessions. Every family can access our TUNED IN Parenting course, created by Rooted Rhythm co-founder and author Sophie Schauermann.
We offer flexible care in Dallas. Families can meet with us in person at our welcoming Greenville Avenue office, with hybrid options available when schedules are busy.
We accept insurance while keeping care personal. Rooted Rhythm currently accepts Aetna in Texas, with additional plans in progress, and maintains smaller caseloads so families receive thoughtful, high-touch support.
We take therapist matching seriously. The relationship between your teen and their therapist matters, so we carefully match each family with the clinician best suited to their needs, personality, and goals.
Common reasons why adolescents come to therapy
Your teen has started pulling away, and conversations now end in one-word answers, silence, or slammed doors.
Big emotions, like anger, tears, irritability, or shutdowns, seem to take over before anyone knows what happened.
Worry about school, friendships, the future, or “something bad happening” keeps your teen from relaxing or sleeping.
Grades are slipping, school feels impossible, or your teen has lost motivation in ways that don’t feel like ordinary procrastination.
Your family is navigating a divorce, move, death, blended-family transition, or another major change.
Friendships feel confusing or painful, and your teen worries they don’t fit in or belong anywhere.
Your sensitive teen feels everything deeply and becomes easily exhausted by noise, expectations, conflict, or social pressure.
You can’t point to one specific problem, but your instincts are telling you that your teen is struggling and may need more support.
What to expect from the therapy process
1. Start with a free consultation
Begin with a no-pressure 15-minute call where you’ll share what has been happening for your teen and your family, and our intake team will thoughtfully match you with the therapist who feels like the best fit.
2. Build safety and trust
Early sessions focus on helping your teen feel respected, understood, and comfortable enough to open up at their own pace. Together, we’ll also identify meaningful goals with your input as a parent.
3. Grow together as a family
As therapy continues, your teen builds emotional awareness, regulation skills, and a stronger sense of self. You’ll receive parent support along the way so progress can take root beyond the therapy room.

You know your teen best. There’s no single approach that works for every teen. Our therapists draw from attachment-based, somatic, mindfulness, and trauma-informed approaches based on your teen’s needs, while prioritizing a relationship where they feel safe, respected, and genuinely understood.
