Is this the right fit for you right now?

We would rather be honest early than have you discover six weeks in that our model was not what you were looking for. Our approach is specific, and it is not the right care for everyone.

This is likely a good fit if

  • You want a structured plan with clear goals and an end point in view, not open-ended therapy
  • Parents are willing to participate in their child's care, including their own sessions
  • You want to practice skills at home between appointments
  • The full monthly cost, sessions plus membership, works for your household
  • You are looking for care built around sensitivity and the nervous system

This is likely not the right fit if

  • You need the lowest cost option available. Our model carries a monthly membership on top of session fees, unless you have Medicaid
  • You want indefinite weekly sessions without a treatment plan or goals
  • You would prefer your child be seen without parent involvement
  • You need every cost billed to insurance. The membership cannot be
  • You are seeking an evaluation, documentation, or a professional opinion for a custody dispute or other legal matter. We are therapists, not investigators or custody evaluators
  • You are in crisis and need same-day or emergency care

If this is not your fit, that is completely okay. Good care is the care that actually matches what you need. You can search your insurance company's provider directory, browse therapists by specialty and price on Psychology Today, or look at Open Path Collective for reduced fee sessions. We are glad to point you somewhere else if you call us.

If you or your child are in crisis, call or text 988 at any time, or go to your nearest emergency room.

Step one

What therapy usually looks like

Every treatment plan is individualized around your goals, and you are never committed to a certain number of sessions. You may stop therapy at any time.

Child and teen therapy

Many children and teens begin with a plan shaped roughly like this:

Session typeTypical starting plan
Parent intake1
Child or teen therapy sessionsAbout 12
Parent closing session1
Typical starting planAbout 14 sessions

Many families choose to continue past this point if they have additional goals or want ongoing support. We have found that starting with a plan helps families stay committed, measure progress, and work toward something specific, with a shared roadmap everyone can see.

Adult therapy

Adult therapy is individualized around your treatment goals. Most adults attend weekly or every other week. Your therapist will work with you to determine the frequency and length of treatment that fits your needs.

Step two

What each session costs

Private pay

$175 to $215

Per session, depending on your therapist's level of training and experience.

If you have Medicaid, care here is free.

$0

Not reduced. Not sliding scale. There is no cost to you at all.

Therapy is billed directly to Medicaid, and your Rooted Rhythm membership is fully scholarshipped. You pay nothing for sessions and nothing for membership, and you get access to every membership resource that any other family here receives.

We currently accept Medicaid in Colorado. If you are covered and want to start, just tell us at your first call.

Using insurance

If your therapist is in network with your plan, we are happy to bill your insurance for covered therapy services, including parent sessions when clinically appropriate.

Will I know what I owe before my first appointment?
Yes. Before your first appointment we verify your benefits and walk you through what your insurance company tells us, including your estimated copay, deductible, coinsurance, or other expected out of pocket costs.

An important note about estimates. Benefit verification is an estimate, not a guarantee of coverage or payment. The information comes directly from your insurance company, but the final determination is made only after claims are submitted and processed. Your actual responsibility may end up different from the estimate we give you.

If we are out of network with your plan

We can provide a superbill, an itemized receipt of your therapy sessions that includes the diagnosis and procedure codes your insurance company requires. You submit it to your plan yourself and they decide what, if anything, to reimburse you.

Whether you get money back depends entirely on your out of network benefits, your deductible, and your plan's rules. Some families are reimbursed a meaningful portion. Some are reimbursed nothing. We can produce the paperwork, but we cannot influence the outcome. It is worth calling the number on the back of your insurance card and asking what your out of network mental health benefit actually is before you assume either way.

A superbill cannot include the membership fee. The membership is not a medical service. It is an uncovered educational product, so there are no billable codes for it and no insurance plan will reimburse it. Plan for that fee as an out of pocket cost in every scenario except Medicaid.

Why you may see two charges for one week

Depending on your child's clinical needs, your therapist may recommend a plan that includes both a child therapy session, typically around 40 minutes, and a separate parent session, typically 15 to 20 minutes. These may happen the same day or on different days.

Because these are separate clinical services, we are required to bill them as separate encounters. If you are using insurance, your plan may apply a separate copay, deductible, or coinsurance to each one. We would rather you hear that here than see it on a statement.

Custody disputes and court involvement

We want to be direct about this before you begin. Rooted Rhythm provides therapy. We are not investigators, custody evaluators, or expert witnesses, and we do not take a side in a custody matter or make recommendations about parenting time. If that is the help you are looking for, you need a court appointed evaluator or a forensic professional, and we are glad to say so early rather than after your child has already started care.

If we are subpoenaed or otherwise pulled into a legal proceeding, that work falls outside of therapy and is billed at $250 per hour. That rate applies to all time involved, including record review and preparation, travel, waiting at the courthouse, testimony, and any related documentation. Court related time is not a covered service and cannot be billed to insurance.

If you ever have a question about your benefits or a bill, our team is glad to sit down and explain it.

Step three

The Rooted Rhythm membership

In addition to therapy sessions, every Rooted Rhythm client is also a member. This is a real, recurring cost, and it is the part families most want explained clearly.

MembershipMonthly fee
Children and families$239 per month
Teens and adults$129 per month

The fee is per family, not per person. If more than one member of your household receives services here, you pay one membership fee.

We built the membership because lasting change happens between appointments as much as during them. Membership gives your household access to the Tuned In Institute, where the education and practice tools live.

Tuned In Institute

Research, education and support for sensitive humans. Tuned In Institute is our peer organization, and your membership includes full access to its library for everyone in your home.

  • Parent education
  • Self paced courses
  • Video library
  • Handouts and worksheets
  • Nervous system education
  • Practical tools for home

See what is inside at tunedininstitute.org

Can insurance cover the membership?

No. The membership is educational and non medical. Because these services are not considered medically necessary healthcare, they cannot be billed to insurance, and they cannot be included on a superbill for out of network reimbursement either. There are no billable codes for an uncovered product. Plan for this as a separate monthly cost.

Financial assistance

We offer need based assistance on membership fees, because we do not want cost to be the only thing standing between a family and care. If money is a concern, tell us. We will talk through the options honestly.

Families using Medicaid

Families using Medicaid do not pay a membership fee. Not a reduced fee, not a partial one. The membership is fully scholarshipped, therapy is billed to Medicaid, and you have access to every resource listed above. Your total cost for care at Rooted Rhythm is $0.

The whole number

What a month looks like

Most practices publish a session rate and stop there. Here is the full monthly picture instead, based on a four week month of weekly sessions. These are examples, not quotes.

Paying privately

4 sessions$700 to $860
Membership$239 or $129
Per month$829 to $1,099

Using in network insurance

4 sessionsYour copay, each visit
Membership$239 or $129
Per monthCopays plus membership

Using Medicaid

4 sessions$0
Membership$0
Per month$0

Membership is $239 per month for children and families and $129 per month for teens and adults, charged once per household. Examples assume four sessions in a month. If your plan includes separate parent sessions, those are billed as their own session. Deductibles and coinsurance will change these numbers. Every family receives a written estimate before the first appointment.

Questions

Asked and answered

Am I committing to the recommended treatment plan?
No. The suggested plans are a starting point based on what helps many clients make meaningful progress. Your plan is always individualized, and you are free to stop therapy at any time.
Why does Rooted Rhythm have a membership at all?
Because change happens both inside and outside the therapy room. The membership funds and delivers the education, tools, and practice resources that keep the work going between appointments, rather than limiting progress to one hour a week.
I have Medicaid. What will I actually pay?
Nothing. Therapy is billed directly to Medicaid and your membership is fully scholarshipped, so there is no session fee and no monthly fee. You receive the same care and the same membership access as every other family here. We currently accept Medicaid in Colorado.
Can my therapist help with our custody case?
No. We do not participate in custody disputes, write letters advocating for one parent, or offer opinions about parenting time. That work belongs to a court appointed evaluator or forensic professional. If we are subpoenaed, the time is billed at $250 per hour, including preparation, travel, and waiting, and it cannot be billed to insurance.
Can I get reimbursed if you are out of network with my plan?
Possibly. We provide a superbill, an itemized receipt with the diagnosis and procedure codes your insurer needs, and you submit it to your plan. Reimbursement depends on your out of network benefits and deductible, and we cannot guarantee any amount. The membership fee cannot appear on a superbill, because it is an uncovered educational product rather than a medical service.
Is the membership optional?
No. Membership is part of how care works here, and it is a standing monthly fee for every client household. Need based assistance is available, and families using Medicaid receive a full scholarship. If a required monthly fee does not work for you, we would rather tell you now than after intake.
Is Rooted Rhythm more expensive than other practices?
Per month, often yes. Over the course of care, many private pay families tell us they spend less overall than they expected, because our approach is built around meaningful progress in a relatively short window rather than therapy that continues indefinitely. Both of those things can be true at once, and which one matters more depends on your situation.
What if I can only afford part of this?
Tell us. We offer need based assistance on membership fees and will talk through what is possible. If we cannot get to a number that works, we will help you find care elsewhere.
Can I pause or stop?
Yes. You may discontinue therapy at any time. Talk with your therapist or our team about timing so we can close out care thoughtfully and stop billing correctly.

Take your time with the number.

Ready to talk it through?

If this model fits what your family needs, we would love to meet you. If it does not, we still want you to find care that does.
