Ryan Counts, MSW, LMSW | Therapist (Austin, TX)
Ryan is a friendly, laid-back, and compassionate therapist who loves working with children and teens. His goal is to make therapy feel comfortable and approachable, a space where kids can be themselves without feeling pressured or judged. With a background in school-based mental health, he has supported children and adolescents with mental health and behavioral challenges, emotional regulation, peer relationships, self-esteem, and life transitions.
Ryan helps kids build confidence, develop healthy coping skills, and strengthen their relationships with others. He values partnering with parents and caregivers, knowing how important families are to a child’s emotional well-being and growth, and works alongside them so kids feel supported both in and outside of therapy.
For Ryan, connecting with young people doesn’t always mean sitting down and talking. Sometimes the best conversations happen during a game, through movement, or while bonding over a shared interest. As a male therapist, he brings a unique perspective and values the chance to be a positive male presence in kids’ lives.
Ryan earned his Master of Social Work from Miami University, where he was part of the School-Based Mental Health Cohort, and is a Licensed Master Social Worker (LMSW) in Texas. Outside of work, Ryan loves sports and spending time with his fiancée, family, and friends. Whether he’s playing video games with longtime friends or coaching youth soccer or pickleball, he values connecting with others and having fun, and coaching has deepened his passion for mentoring kids and helping them build confidence on and off the field.
