Rachel Durkee, MSW, LMSW | Therapist (Dallas, TX)
Rachel is a Dallas-based therapist who takes a warm, trauma-informed approach to her work with children and families. Her work is grounded in the belief that children naturally move toward growth and healing when given the safety, space, and support to do so. Rachel incorporates child-centered play therapy approaches, humor, and emotional regulation skills to help children express themselves and build resilience. She believes all behavior is communication and works collaboratively with children and caregivers to better understand the needs underlying big behaviors.
Prior to joining Rooted Rhythm, Rachel developed a play therapy program within a psychiatric setting, supporting children ages 5–11 experiencing anxiety, depression, trauma, neurodivergence, and emotional dysregulation. Rachel has also worked in child welfare, supporting families navigating foster care, court systems, and complex life stressors. These experiences deepened her commitment to compassionate, culturally responsive care for children and families from all backgrounds.
Rachel holds a Master’s degree in Social Work from the University of Pittsburgh and is currently under supervision as she works toward her LCSW and certification in Child-Centered Play Therapy. She is neurodivergent-affirming and LGBTQIA+ friendly. When she’s not in session, you can find her decorating cakes or going for a run.
