Bari Agnes, Therapist Denver, CO

Bari Agnes, MA, LPCC | Therapist (Denver, CO & Lakewood, CO)

Bari believes that toys aren’t just toys—they’re tools for expression, healing, and growth. In the playroom, there’s no pressure for children to “have the right words.” Instead, kids are invited to explore, create, and express themselves in ways that feel natural and safe. Through play, they begin to build confidence, emotional awareness, and new ways of coping with life’s challenges.

Bari specializes in non-directive play therapy, creating a space where children can take the lead and make sense of their world at their own pace. She supports children navigating big emotions, behavioral challenges, trauma, and overwhelming or confusing thoughts. Bari meets each child with deep curiosity, compassion, and respect, helping them feel seen, understood, and empowered.

Her background includes working in higher levels of care with children and adolescents at Children’s Hospital Colorado, where she focused on safety, emotional regulation, and trauma-informed support. She has experience assessing risk, supporting children through crisis, and helping them develop insight into their emotions and relationships. Bari also previously worked as a mental health counselor at Mount Saint Vincent, where she utilized approaches such as the Neurosequential Model of Therapeutics (NMT), Therapeutic Crisis Intervention (TCI), and Zones of Regulation to support children with complex emotional and behavioral needs.

She has experience providing play therapy in school settings, where she supports children with concerns such as ADHD, depression, oppositional behaviors, and emotional regulation challenges.

Bari deeply values working with caregivers as part of the therapeutic process. She believes that meaningful change happens not only in the playroom, but also in the relationships that surround a child. Through collaboration, parent consultations, and practical support, she helps caregivers feel more confident and connected in supporting their child at home.
